Welcome To Our Website!
LongShaw Kids Fund was founded in 2010 by a group of parents and
friends who wished to help profoundly disabled children and to support the
work of the respite centres they attend.
We aim to raise funds to give these children opportunities and fun. They
often have great difficulty in accessing activities or social events which
puts great strain on them and their families. We hope to change that.
We also hope to heighten awareness of all the benefits given by the
wonderful care offered by short-term respite units. In particular, we are
supporting two units - Grimshaw Lane in Ormskirk and Long Copse in
Chorley. The work that they do to provide a safe, loving environment where
our children can feel secure and valued is immense.
We aim to enable the children and young adults to experience things they
would otherwise find hard or be unable to do - from trying a sport to
spending time with their friends. The children have enjoyed skiing lessons,
arts workshops, a "rock school", boat trips and more. They also enjoy
participating in our gardening club - Muck'n'Mirth.
We are also pleased to announce the completion of a new sensory garden
at Long Copse respite unit - its a beautiful space with interactive and
visual plants and sculpture - the kids are loving it!
